👮 Kraken to Share User Data with IRS Following Court Order

Kraken is set to share select user info with the IRS in Nov 2023, following a court mandate. The crypto exchange must provide profile data and transaction histories for users transacting over $20,000 between 2016-2020.

The move comes after a legal battle starting in May 2021, aimed at catching tax evaders. Kraken has reduced the affected user count to 42,017 from the IRS's initial request of 59,331. Other crypto firms have also shared user data with the IRS in the past.
